Need files from many USB or memory cards copied to one external drive?

Data Job Shop can consolidate files from many customer-supplied USB drives, SD cards and microSD cards onto one destination HDD or SSD, with an optional second destination copy.

What consolidation means

Duplication takes one file set and puts it on many devices. Consolidation is the reverse: files from many source devices are gathered onto one destination drive.

The sources can be USB flash drives, SD cards, microSD cards or a mix of those media types. The destination is a customer-supplied external drive with enough free capacity for the data being collected.

Common reasons for this job

• A box of old USB drives needs to be gathered into one archive.
• Files are spread across many SD or microSD cards and need one storage location.
• An office wants to retire a collection of removable media without manually opening and copying every device.
• You want a second identical destination drive as an additional copy.

Keeping source devices straight

If it matters which files came from which source device, label the source media before shipping. Data Job Shop can preserve a source-by-source organization when that is part of the requested layout. Do not assume duplicate filenames from different devices can safely be merged into one folder.

Before shipping

Estimate the total amount of source data and make sure the destination drive has enough capacity. Back up anything irreplaceable. If a source device is damaged, unreadable or unsafe, it may not be possible to copy it.
